2016, Community Easter Basket Drive
Open Heart Ministries' 2nd Annual, Community, Easter Basket Drive was truly special.
Through fundraising efforts and community support, supplies were purchased and over 70 volunteers gathered together to build over 550 quality, Easter Baskets that were provided to children within our very own community from March 25, (Good friday) to Easter Sunday. There was plenty of fun, games, and laughter amid this special event, and there was a surprise guest, KKTV Channel 11 News, who covered this awesome celebration.
The crowd was much larger than last year's crowd; close to 500 men, women and children were in attendance for this year's event.
The Hillside Community Center was once again the chosen location for this awesome event; furthermore, we were given the entire gymnasium to accomodate the large crowd and planned activities.
The long lines of baskets progressively grew smaller as all children in attendance received a quality Easter Basket.
It was a pleasure having KKTV Channel 11 News among us all as they covered this awesome event.
We personally thank the more than 70 volunteers ( not all pictured ) who devoted their time, effort, and service unto this special occasion, and all donors who financially supported our organization to fund this awesome event geared toward providing a tangible gift to children within our very own community amid this great holiday. We aspire to secure a sponsorship from a corporation, local business or company for next year's event, where we will be committed to putting many smiles on the faces of hundreds of children within our community.
